Q; Full Compass has a huge inventory of gear for many industries, but what's new for film and video pros?

A: One of the newest, most exciting products is the Sony NEX-FS700. It has the same form factor as the NEX-FS100, but with super slow-mo and up to 4k resolution (coming later this year). The fact you can get 240fps at full HD is pretty impressive for a camera that costs under $10k. Also, we can't forget about the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera. Its impressive feature set with new technologies such as Thunderbolt and SSD recording is leading video camera manufacturing into new areas of development.


Q: What are some hot products moving off your shelves this summer?

A: We have all seen the move to dSLRs for filmmaking, which has led to vigorous sales in the Canon EOS family. Another popular product line is the Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher series. These switchers add the Blackmagic ‘magic’ to existing technology, creating a product that everyone needs at a price they can afford.


Q: We know that Full Compass supports a wide range of industry events and initiatives; can you share a few of recent ones you've supported?

A: Full Compass regularly attends NAB and other industry trade shows. Additionally, we cooperate with several local and regional events such as the Wisconsin Community Media Conference and the Wisconsin Broadcasters’ Association Conference. Full Compass is also a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and we regularly host workshops at our headquarters, including events featuring video-related technologies.


Q: Are there any Special Offers or rebates for production equipment currently available?

A: JVC has a $500 rebate available on their GY-HM750 cameras through September. They also have their “Loyalty Royalty” program that offers up to $1000 in incentives on select products. Sony has up to $800 Cash Back on select NX Cam and XD Cam camcorders. Panasonic also has two great offers. The first is a $700 Cash Back offer on select plasma displays. The second is a free ProPresenter software package with the purchase of select switchers.
