Women in Film & Television – Florida to Host National
LUNAFEST Film Festival at Enzian Theater
October 6th Event Features Films By, For and About Women to Support the Breast Cancer Fund

ORLANDO, FL – August 20, 2012 - LUNAFEST, the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, will take place at the Enzian Theater on Sat., Oct. 6, 2012.

“Oct. is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are honored to show our support to such an important cause while inspiring the work of talented women filmmakers,” said Sheena Fowler, president of Women in Film & Television – Florida. “We are thrilled to bring LUNAFEST to the Central Florida community for the fifth year, and we encourage women to make it a girl’s night out—make it a special evening.”

The event will be hosted by Vanessa Echols of WFTV, who is the founder of Compassionate Hands and Hearts Breast Cancer Outreach in addition to her anchor duties at Channel 9.

Filled with stories of reflection and whimsy, hope and humor, grace and perseverance, LUNAFEST films are renowned for celebrating the talents and stories of women. The films include many off the traditional “festival circuit.” Collectively, LUNAFEST films captivate audiences, compel dialogue and arm those who participate with both the knowledge and the motivation to make a difference in their communities.

This season’s program of nine selected films will compel discussion, make you laugh, tug at your heartstrings and motivate you to make a difference in your community. Incredibly diverse in style and content, LUNAFEST is united by a common thread of exceptional storytelling - by, for and about women.

100 percent of all LUNAFEST net proceeds are donated to charity, with 15 percent going to the main beneficiary, Breast Cancer Fund, and 85 percent going to directly back to the local community organizations. To date, LUNAFEST has raised over $1.2 million dollars for more than 600 worthy causes.
