I began my broadcasting career at WAND-TV in Decatur Il. For three years I was employed as a news photographer. My duties included shooting and editing daily assignments and operating live trucks.
I then moved to WAND-TV in Indianapolis. For ten years I worked as a photographer editor. As a staff photographer I was responsible for shooting general news, breaking news, sports and special reports. I also operated live trucks. For four years my duties included being assigned to the investigative unit.
I am comfortable with the demands of tight news deadlines. I am able to operate live broadcasting equipment. I can edit liner and nonlinear. I have experience with both Avid and Grass Valley editing platforms. I understand the challenges of traveling on assignments. I was sent to Cuba in 1999 and was imbedded with the Army in Afghanistan in 2006.
I have won an Emmy for my photography and been nominated an additional 5 times. I have also received numerous awards form the SPJ, AP and NPPA. I am a graduate of the NPPA advanced team storytelling workshop.
