Description

Sukalyan Bhattacharya, is an internationally renowned choreographer, dancer, teacher and producer. His dance expertise includes:
-Classical training in Bharat Natyam, Kathakali and training in Manipuri under the auspices of Guru Bipin Singh and Smt. Kalavati Devi.
-Modern Dance as a member of Dancers Guild under the training of Dr. Manjusree Chaki Sircar.
-Martial arts which he very frequently uses in his productions.

Sukalyan has developed his career in India with dance direction in numerous main stream projects including:
-Dance Direction in several Bengali films for such renowned directors as Tarun Mazumdar (Allo), Satarupa Sanyal (Kalo Cheeta) and Ravi Ojha (Abar Ashabo Phere) and more recently with renowned filmstar Jayaprada (Shesh Shanghat).
-Grooming and Dance development in several beauty pageants including Sananda Tilottama, Unish Kuri and Sananda Sreemoti

Sukalyan has directed numerous projects which his entourage has successfully presented all over North America:
-Chhuta Watan (a live show with Ustad Sultan Khan, Ustad Asish Khan, Sivamoni & Bikram Ghose in Chicago)
-Nuralddin's Life (an Off-Broadway production for New York and Calcutta)
-Genesis of Phobia at the Kalanidhi Festival, Toronto
-Passion of Spring for Masala Mehndi Masti, Toronto
-North American Bengali Conference in Houston, Atlanta and New York (Madison Square Garden)
-Miss India Canada, 2006
-The Smirnoff Fashion Awards Show, Toronto
-Fundraising Event for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CRY and Tsunami Relief Efforts
-H.L. Hawk productions for a short film named "The Sun, The Moon and The Waves" for the Bravo network

Sukalyan's work has been recognized through several grants and awards from various organizations including The National scholarship from the Government of India, Japan Foundation of Toronto Canada Council of Art, Sterling Award in Edmonton (Alberta), City of Toronto, Shastri Indo- Canadian Institute, Ontario Arts Council, LaidLaw Foundation.

He has been developing his entourage in Canada and the United States since 1995. His hard to master unique dance style combines the discipline of Indian Classical dance forms with the fluidity of Western dance movements. Sukalyan's Entourage has performed all across North America and their presentations have wowed audiences from Vancouver to Ottawa and from San Diego to New York.

Sukalyan Bhattacharya has been in the industry since 15.
