I'm John Mans, a Colorado based cinematographer with over 20 years industry experience. I was DP on Deadliest Catch, Whale Wars, Modern Marvels, 30 Days, SOS Coast Guard Rescue, Trading Spaces, The Block and more. I was part of the 2011 Emmy Award winning team who filmed National Geographic Televisions acclaimed "Great Migrations" and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography in NonFiction Programming in 2010 for my work on Whale Wars.

I have extensive experience on both national and international productions and specialize in adventure photography. I'm an experienced climber, hold a World Record in scuba diving and over the years have shot from the air, on land and underwater on every continent!

5280HD video camera and film equipment rental represents a natural progression from my primary role as an equipment owner / operator and DP. 5280HD provides production crews and filmmakers with access to high-end HD video camera packages and other specialized equipment such as jibs, underwater housings and lighting systems, offering highly specialized, portable gear designed to cope in extreme environments.

5280HD has multiple jibs and cranes available for hire, including the only Polecam jib system in the Rocky Mountain region. All rental equipment has been tested in the field by established cinematographers with experienced operators available for hire if required. I have a solid understanding of the needs of professional shooters, renting video equipment perfectly suited for reality television, documentary film, commercials and industrials.

In addition to equipment rental, my staff at 5280HD have extensive international experience and a strong connection to the Boulder area. We can offer filmmakers working in the Rocky Mountains expert local advice and technical assistance, with direct access to an extensive network of world class athletes in rock climbing, skiing, scuba diving and cycling.
