Description
Experience
Disney ABC Television Group – Digital Media Producer May 2010 - Present
n Digitized long format shows and features on HDCAM SR and Digital Betacam formats with high-end industrial Sony VTRs and AJA Kona Capture Cards. Also, monitored color and audio levels using industrial Rasterizer.
n Segmented ProRes HD and SD master files (720P 59.94 and 480P 29.97, both grouped audio.) and outputted HD and SD ProRes HQ trancodes with discrete audio (720P 59.94 with 2, 8, or 10 Ch. Audio Pro Res 422 files and 480P 29.97 4 Ch. Audio Pro Res 422 files) using Final Cut Pro for ABC Disney iPad VOD application project.
n Conducted innovative workflow tests for ingestion, file output extractions, editing and transcoding for media content using Final Cut Server, Final Cut Pro and Apple Compressor (i.e. Edit-in-place functionality with FCP projects via FCS, Apple QT Closed Captioning Track extraction from HD VANC data.). As well as, troubleshoot technical issues, theorize problematic issues with workflows, and managed file storage and space upkeep.
n Assisted Media Support Engineers in the construction and installation of 32 Apple XServe servers and other hardware/software conjoined tasks (Harris Air Client and Flexicart/PictureReady ingestion and automation, Pipeline HD network connectivity, Network mapping for Rhozet blades, etc.)
n Utilized collective strategizing with Engineering team to create workarounds and troubleshooting for ingestion and output errors using various tools (i.e. Final Cut Pro, Apple Compressor, Quicktime Pro, Mac Caption, Sienna PictureReady, etc.).
n Spot QCed transcoded outputs to ensure proper audio and video and in and out points of segmented material. Additionally, confirmed proper outputs and discrepancies by verifying source material via tape or file.
n Promptly delivered and returned digital assets and content, in communication with Mastering Coordinators and Senior Media Technology Engineer, by e-mail and in-house networks.
Encompass Digital Media (Formerly Broadcast Facilities, Inc.) – Media Specialist May 2009 – August 2010
n Color-calibrated, monitored, digitized, and duplicated incoming films and shows from Betacam SP, D5, DVCAM, DigiBeta, HDCAM, and HDCAM-SR formats using high-end industrial VTR’s, Vectorscopes, and Audio Phase monitors on various routers, monitors, and converters (i.e. AJA FS1 Converter, Quasar Ph.C Converter, Quasar Alchemist Ph.C-HD).
n Utilized Sony HDCAM-SR and Panasonic D5 HD VTRs for successful chroma subsampling from 4:4:4 to 4:2:2 and frame rate and timecode conversions (i.e. 1080 23.98psf to 1080i 59.94, 24P to NTSC DF, 24P to NTSC NDF) to digitize into Final Cut Pro and AJA VTR Exchange. Also, created LTC and VITC burn-ins on HD and Digibeta decks for client requests and specifications.
n In conjunction, harnessed Rhozet Carbon Coder and Carbon Admin to automate and encode/transcode various file formats and rewraps (i.e. Pro Res 422 to MPEG-2, IMX to MPEG-2, MPEG Transrating and Image Scaling, etc.).
n Coincided XML and SCC scripts, digital files, and deck captures on Digital Rapids Stream and Rhozet Carbon Coder to encode various lossy and lossless codecs (i.e. H.264, MPEG, Huffyuv, Photo JPEG, Apple ProRes 422, Dolby EAC3 and AC-3, WAV, etc.) and incorporated SCTE and ATSC standards for Closed Captioning when applicable.
n Utilized non-GUI command scripting such as Avisynth, XML, and Linux Shell for additional functions on final audio and video outputs for VOD encoding on x.264 encoders (i.e. EAC3 to WAV conversion for Dolby Digital Encoding, Pro Res 422 to H.264, and Image and audio editing).
n Cooperated with Engineers to tackle technical dilemmas involving operator workflows, hardware problems and malfunctions. As well as, provide assistance and feedback in troubleshooting errors and procedural changes.
n Promptly delivered and retrieved digital assets and content, in collaboration with Traffic Coordinators, using SFTP and Aspera to meet clients’ date priorities and urgent deadlines.
SDI Media – Media Technician July 2008 – July 2009
n Digitized incoming films from 1/2”, DVD, DVCAM, DigiBeta, and HDCAM formats using high-end industrial decks on various routers.
n Archived physical assets’ in on-premise high-security vault and digital assets onto LTO tapes. Also, maintained locations of assets through in-house proprietary tracking and archival systems.
n Combined the use of VTRs, SDI-patching, and Ultech ITV Injector and software to burn in perfectly synced Selective Language subtitles onto tape layoffs.
n Authored DVD Menus for Independent entertainment companies and instructional DVDs using Apple DVD Studio Pro.
n Spot QCed encoded and outputted media for macro-blocking or banding issues in picture and audio sync or dropout disparities.
n Delivered and met urgent deadlines with high-profile clients (i.e 20th Century Fox, CBS Paramount, Closed Captioning Services, etc.) using Aspera, Digi-Delivery, and Signiant.
n Encode, split, watermark, and dubbed video and audio using such programs as Carbon Coder, ProTools, and Avisynth scripts.
