Description

Robert Kurland is a filmmaker with a Bachelor’s in the Arts from Columbia College Chicago, with a focus in film/video postproduction. He has worked primarily as a picture editor but has also taken on the role of producer, director, writer, sound designer and postproduction consultant. In the past four years Robert has worked on a total of twenty independent shorts as well as freelance work. Two of these shorts, Apocrypha and Book of Green, have been exhibited at different festivals around the world in countries including: The U.S., Buenos Aires, Vancouver, India, Italy and others. In addition to this Midwest Brain Injury Blues, the documentary that he was co-creator and editor on, won the jury award for best documentary at the Take One Film Festival. Robert is well versed in all editing styles, from narrative, documentary and commercial to abstract experimental. He has a competitive mindset and a strong drive towards coming up with new and creative concepts. For him, film/video is an art form that should constantly be adapting and evolving with the culture and time period it is a part of. This allows him to think far outside the box to provide new visual experiences for the audience he is trying to reach.
