Description

Jon Steinmeier is a 2001 graduate of the Wheaton Conservatory of Music with a B.Music in Music Composition, and winner of the Josephine Halvorsen Memorial Composition Prize as the top music composition student in his graduating class. Jon now lives in Los Angeles and composes for film, television, video, web, and the stage; providing thoughtful and innovative sounds and themes in close collaboration with other artists.

In 2000, Jon received some local recognition in Chicago for his original score for Redmoon Theater’s production of “Deciphering Moonshadows.”

Jon’s performance experience has greatly influenced his writing and arranging skills, from marching and symphonic percussion playing to classical piano competitions to touring with Mavis Staples on keyboards. Jon Currently performs as rapper “Steinomite” and composes and performs with Chicago’s “circus punk marching band” Mucca Pazza.

He is excited to be Music Director for New Belgium Brewing Company’s “Tour de Fat” festival again this year, and looks forward to another year of creating new work with talented friends and clients.
