Description
I began my professional training in Cinematography and Media Production at Emerson College and did some post-grad work at the FAMU in the Czech Republic. Since graduating with a BFA, I have gained extensive production experience shooting Documentaries, Features ,Commercials, Music Videos, Viral/Online content, and Experimental films. Studying under both Albert Maysles .(Grey Gardens, Gimme Shelter, The Gates) and Paul Cameron (Man on Fire, gone in 60 Seconds, Swordfish, and Collateral) has allowed me to hone a unique aesthetic sensibility, and obtain the technological prowess to accomplish the images I set out to create. I have a strong command of the all latest video technologies and work flows, including the various HD/Digital formats, and I am equally adept with film. I also own my own small Canon 5Dm2 Package, which is always at your disposal.
I recently finished shooting the official documentary feature film of the making of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. We shot the behind- the-scenes of the building of a world class, (and soon to be in the 10 ten visited) museums in the world. We capture how the characters emotional journey, and how they deal with the almost insurmountable obstacles they face on a daily, and long term basis. I acted as the Director of Photography and Co-Producer on the project, and worked directly with the Executive Producer and Director. Over the course of the shoot we have been featured in a number of publications like NY Times, New York Magazine, Fast Company, Observer, Mashable, and The Huffington Post (among others). We have also created an IPAD & Kindle App (which was FEATURED by Apple and currently available for sale in ITUNES) and the director presented the project at the TED.com talks, in which i was a lead content producer. This film has been a long-term labor of love with historical and artistic integrity that i value deeply, and was very proud to be apart of it.
I also consider myself (and many have told me) that I am a very easy and cool person to work with. I'm a team player but not afraid to be independent. I work well under pressure, have proven myself in extreme conditions, and above all, I am tremendously passionate about what I do. I try my best to help create a pleasant and enjoyable working atmosphere.
Thanks again for your time and I look very much forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
James Silverman
