Calabash Animation
Description
Once upon a time there were a couple of animators named Ed & Monica. They got hired by Encyclopaedia Britannica to create a clay-animated film version of Rudyard Kipling''s "How the Elephant Got Its Trunk". It turned out pretty good, so Ed & Monica decided to start their own studio. For certain mysterious reasons, they called it CALABASH ANIMATION, and for other mysterious reasons, it was successful.
Computer animation is the brave new frontier at Calabash, where we''ve recently completed a commercial for Aussieland Shampoo (Clairol and Kaplan/Thaler NY), featuring a lively and mischievous CGI kangaroo. Currently, Calabash has a number of computer animation projects in the works, including several special effects sequences for a feature film.
Today Calabash has a full-time staff of 12 animators, and employs as many as 30 freelance artists in creating some of the most compelling and creative character animation being done anywhere. No fooling.
