ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Held annually in July, MIFF is a 10-day event that features over 80 of the best American independent, international and Maine-made films at two venues (total of 5 screens), Railroad Square Cinema and the historic Waterville Opera House. MIFF provides audiences with the opportunity to interact with visiting filmmakers, actors, producers, and other film industry representatives through intimate Q & As, lively receptions, panel discussions, and other special events. Past guests have included Malcolm McDowell, John Turturro, Terrence Malick, Sissy Spacek, Jonathan Demme, Ed Harris, Peter Fonda, Richard Russo, Lili Taylor, Jay Cocks, Verna Bloom, Campbell Scott, Bud Cort, Karen Young, and many others.
