Event Details
Founded in 1987 and hosted in the main city of the UK’s Yorkshire region, Leeds International Film Festival is renowned as a dynamic event with a reputation for challenging and innovative programming (see links to 2011 press articles below). Last year LIFF presented a huge variety of exceptional films at over 250 screenings and events at a wide variety of sites across the city, from cinemas and clubs to the newly customised, 1,000-capacity venue at Leeds Town Hall. LIFF features high-profile programme sections including: the competitions of the Official Selection; Fanomenon, the UK's largest genre event; Short Film City; documentary strand Cinema Versa; Cherry Kino for artist film and video; and the Thought Bubble Comic Convention. LIFF is organised by Leeds Film, part of Leeds City Council, a local authority in the Yorkshire region of the UK. Leeds Film also organise Leeds Young People’s Film Festival.
