RED Announces Hydrogen One
This past Thursday RED announced the Hydrogen One. The specifics were few and far between but according to the information out there so far, here is what we do know. According to RED, the Hydrogen One will run the Android operating system on a 5.7-inch "hydrogen holographic display." This according to RED will make glasses a thing of the past. Users will be able to switch between 2D, Holographic, 3D and Interactive games.

Fusion Studio & Flash Film Works Composite Action/Comedy ‘Barely Lethal’
Compositing for the new action/comedy summer film “Barely Lethal” was completed by Hollywood based VFX company Flash Film Works using Fusion Studio. Jeremy Nelson, a VES award winner and compositing supervisor at Flash Film Works, and his team used Fusion Studio to help create action sequences and fine tune camera moves for the film.

Without a cinematic it is very hard to generate the desired customer anticipation for an upcoming release. 4K Cameras Become the Norm at NAB 2015
by Carl Mrozek This is the 19th consecutive year I’ve attended NAB in quest of the ideal digital video camera, and ideally one that is somewhat affordable. Of course one man’s ideal is another’s disappointment, and likewise with affordable. However, at the largest production media trade show in the world, NAB 2015, there were more than a few cameras that nearly fit my criteria. This included wide dynamic range, a wide range of frame rates, more than one robust recording codec, smart design and of course great imaging.

The Efficiencies of IMF
SMPTE was hosting a major push on the IMF specification (SMPTE ST2067) with the Digital Production Partnership (DPP) out of England. The IMF specification was created to make the Interoperable Master Format (IMF), interoperable, so vendors and customers could use it. The IMF standard requires changes in the way that content is created in order to make greater efficiencies for broadcast and online content distribution. In addition to SMPTE and DPP, the North American Broadcasters Association (NABA), The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), several manufacturers and end users have been involved in making the IMF specification.
