I usually like to start most of our discussions with lots of questions. But this time, I only have one question. What is an ARRI Large-Format Camera System? I had to know. Featuring a sensor slightly bigger than full frame, ALEXA LF records native 4K with ARRI’s best overall image quality.
by featured blog contributor, Jeremy Pinckert I recently needed to prep for a shoot where we had to match RED ONE 4K footage from 2010. The discussion came down to which 4K camera to use for this video shoot, and at first I was stuck choosing between the Sony CineAlta PMW-F55, the Canon Cinema EOS C500, and the ARRI ALEXA camera systems. Read further to follow our thought process, and see the final results captured by the winning camera system!
by featured blog contributor, Jeremy PinckertSometimes when I’m in the thick of pre-production on a new television advertising spot, I’m tempted to put all of my emphasis on the obvious questions: Who will be the cinematographer? What camera system will we use? What casting decisions need to be made? Who the hell can convert my scribbles into a real storyboard? There’s a step often left out of the above question process, but one that, as a Director or Producer, does have a significant effect on your picture. In fact, this step is the first point of contact between the enigma of a performance and the camera.

by Carl Mrozek This is the 19th consecutive year I’ve attended NAB in quest of the ideal digital video camera, and ideally one that is somewhat affordable. Of course one man’s ideal is another’s disappointment, and likewise with affordable. However, at the largest production media trade show in the world, NAB 2015, there were more than a few cameras that nearly fit my criteria. This included wide dynamic range, a wide range of frame rates, more than one robust recording codec, smart design and of course great imaging.
On February 24, 2019 at the Dolby® Theatre in Hollywood, many outstanding achievements were recognized at the 91th Academy Awards ceremony. ARRI would like to thank the Academy for demonstrating that art is more important than ratings!

The International Broadcasting Convention just wrapped up in Amsterdam and, like every year, there was no shortage of amazing announcements. In case you weren't able to make the flight over, we have compiled a list of the best announcements from the show.
Is this not a great business to be in? Hard to believe not to long ago that the 2017 NAB was wrapping up. Officially, the National Association of Broadcasters tabbed the attendance at 103,443. Which after twenty something NAB shows sounds and feels about right. But before we get into some of the cool new products we looked at, some perspective and analysis is definitely in order.
With over 1600 exhibitors, crunching the ProductionHUB Awards of Excellence list down to just 12 outstanding winners and five special mentions was not an easy task. Getting things right never is, is it? It was incredibly hard to put this list in order. Congratulations to all of this year's winners!
