As we start winding towards the dog days of summer, I was recently given the opportunity to get in front of the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K and the DaVinci Resolve Control Panel. This was a new and different approach to looking at products that come through the doors at ProductionHUB. Normally we might get a camera or lighting kit but to get two production/post production related products together was cool. As a production professional (like many of you) I am always looking at the budget and ways to control costs. So the idea of being able to upgrade in the field and enhance the post-production suite without crushing the budget was enticing to say the least. But before I get there, lets take a look at where production always has to start. It starts with the camera of course.
Here’s a HUGE issue that my contemporaries and I see all too often. Productions just know that they “need a drone” and lump all UAV’s into the same category. Now pay attention class because this is important: What you need is a skilled and licensed pilot/company that has the correct camera/drone/team combination for your production.
When my star ProductionHUB Content Manager Bri called me a few weeks ago and mentioned something about doing that “tripod product review” I have to admit I was pretty skeptical. Ok, very skeptical. Growing up in Colorado sports was always a big part of my life and so was the naturally beautiful and rugged landscape. In fact some of my first memories were driving with my Dad and suddenly pulling the car over to capture an amazing sunset or the wind blowing the snow off the side of a 14k foot peak, perfectly backlit. I developed an appreciation watching for the moments where beautiful light hit the mountain or the river just right.
