When shooting video, the lighting you choose sets the stage for the actual content - though most viewers may not be consciously aware of the lighting choices you’ve made, they react to light on a subconscious level. Lighting can be used to give the viewers subtle cues about where the scene is taking place, or to create an emotional response to what’s happening. In commercial shoots, lighting choices also ensure that the product and/or models are presented at their absolute best.
Director Joseph Oxford and cinematographer Bradley Stonesifer created a unique live action short film “Me+Her,” which was accepted into this year’s Sundance Short Film program. What makes this film so special is that Joseph and Bradley created an incredible imaginary world where all of the main characters and sets were built out of standard cardboard boxes. While any film admitted into the Sundance competition is going to look amazing, the fact that Joseph and Bradley captured stunning images using only cardboard really sets this project apart.

You know sometimes we make such a big deal out of cinematic production that it has been said we forget about the importance of audio. I don’t think that is true at all.
