Landing Your Next Job: Avoid These 6 Video Production Resume Mistakes
It’s hard enough to find a great job in video production, even with the best resume. Up to 90% of all US employers, including all the major motion picture and TV studios, use a computerized ATS (applicant tracking system) to screen resumes. An employer may use this technology to select the 50 best resumes from a field of 1,000. Hiring executives then spend as little as 6 to 10 seconds scanning each resume to select the best five candidates. Those individuals are contacted for phone interviews and eventually for face-to-face interviews.

Renting Vs Owning Production Gear
For me personally, I actually got into this business out of being a gear head. As a kid I always collected things like comic books, card collections, and even stamps. Don’t tease me for that last one. There was a huge sense of pride as I was acquiring, playing with, and caring for these collections. Back in college when I became more serious about shooting video, the idea of collecting camera equipment was no different. A sense of excitement overtook me as I added another lens, pelican case, or light. Each piece of gear not only allowed me to learn a new technique, but it offered me a new creative experience too. Years later when I started Image Brew, I fortunately learned early on that owning equipment allowed me to be more flexible and billable by offering different options and tools to my clients. But we’ll get back to that later.

Safety Guidelines for Filming Interviews & Live Streams During the COVID-19 Crisis
While currently, most productions are shutdown, it’s not too early to think about how we can conduct interviews and live streams in the future. This may apply to limited video productions going on right now, which may be justified on an essential business need. It will most certainly apply to most productions once things ease up and social distancing still must be practiced for the foreseeable future.

All About Glass: Why Having the Right Lens Can Make All the Difference
Ask any, I mean ANY cinematographer, videographer, photographer (you get it) who is serious about his or her craft and they all pretty much say the same thing. It’s all about the glass. Never was there a more true statement! Much as the stylus is to a turntable, the lens is to the camera. The better the stylus, the better the sound is going to be. Better glass, better image. Makes sense no? With that said, here are some of the best glass (lenses) either already on the market or soon to be released.

ProductionHUB Exclusive: Rampant Design Makes New Orlando Studio A Reality
Ok, here is the straight out truth. I love sharing stories of people in our profession that aren’t afraid to take risks, put themselves and their assets (so to speak) on the line with our ProductionHub family. I met up with Sean and Stef Mullen of Rampant Design just a couple of years ago as they were navigating their small company into the big time of NAB. I was quickly impressed how their small company was able to rock it with the big boys and make some pretty big impressions at the show. I also got the vibe that besides being genuinely real people (a nice change) that they had bigger dreams. Don’t we all! So it was no surprise to me to hear that are chasing down the dream by opening a new studio space in Orlando, Florida.
