NAB Show 2023 Celebrates its 100th Anniversary
When I saw that 2023 was the 100th Anniversary of the National Association of Broadcasters Show I knew that 2023 was going to be special. If you stop and think about it, 100 years of just about anything is really a big deal, right? So, no matter if this is your 1st NAB or your 25th NAB Show (or more) I can guarantee that there will be new technology or some cool product or service that will make you stop in your tracks and give you that “wow” moment. One of my many big wow moments? Go ahead and take a step back with me on the time machine. Out of nowhere comes the Video Toaster! Yes, that one. The original Video Toaster. You couldn’t get anywhere near the booth; it was wall to wall attendees five to ten deep. It was like so much digital techno marvel magic all in one box. Complete with those iconic KiKi effects as well!

Mr. Winter has earned a richly deserved place in the pantheon of creative and artistic success stories, achieving many of his early Brooklyn-bred goals in his daring and groundbreaking efforts on landmark television programs. As executive producer, Mr. Winter helped change the very landscape of televised episodic drama with THE SOPRANOS, for which he also wrote 25 episodes and earned four Emmys (including one for the oft-cited favorite episode of many fans, "Pine Barrens.") This year the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes received a complete technology update, including an 8K LED upstage display providing lifelike dynamic scenery. Additionally, digital projection mapping of the iconic theatre stretched an immersive environment across all eight of the venue’s arches. Cutting edge content creation studio Obscura Digital was tasked with making audiences feel even more connected to the show, with brand new visual content for both the LED and projection. batwin + robin productions also returned to update and enhance existing content from previous shows. The result is a truly unique show experience.

ProductionHUB Exclusive: Rampant Design Makes New Orlando Studio A Reality
Ok, here is the straight out truth. I love sharing stories of people in our profession that aren’t afraid to take risks, put themselves and their assets (so to speak) on the line with our ProductionHub family. I met up with Sean and Stef Mullen of Rampant Design just a couple of years ago as they were navigating their small company into the big time of NAB. I was quickly impressed how their small company was able to rock it with the big boys and make some pretty big impressions at the show. I also got the vibe that besides being genuinely real people (a nice change) that they had bigger dreams. Don’t we all! So it was no surprise to me to hear that are chasing down the dream by opening a new studio space in Orlando, Florida.
