GETTING THROUGH CASTING CALL

GENRE: romantic drama, narrative short film, silent

LOGLINE: A recently gone-deaf woman struggles to communicate and live normally with her boyfriend while they both work together to get through to one another or risk the relationship entirely.



MAIN CHARACTERS:

Vee- deaf and knows ASL, 26-year-old woman, nervous, has lots of chemistry with Aiden.

Important Notice: Highly encouraged someone who is deaf and knows ASL; they should be aware there will be partial nudity in the chest area. We are looking for someone who is okay with being up close and personal to the actor playing Aiden.

Aiden- knows most but is still learning ASL, 24-year-old man, considerate and comforting boyfriend who has lots of chemistry with Vee.

Important Notice: Highly encouraged someone who knows ASL; they should be aware there will be partial nudity below the belt. We are looking for someone who is okay with being up close and personal to the actor playing Vee.

SIDE CHARACTERS:

Beverly- hard of hearing or deaf and knows ASL, 25-year-old woman, friend of Vee and Aiden, girlfriend to Dimitri.

Important Notice: Highly encouraged someone who is either hard of hearing or deaf and knows ASL.

Dimitri- knows ASL, 29-year-old man, friend of Vee and Aiden, boyfriend to Beverly.

Important Notice: Highly encouraged someone who is either hard of hearing or deaf and knows ASL.

FEATURED EXTRA:

Waitress- 20’s - 30’s woman

Important Notice: Will need a small stunt, falling over.

Prominent characters and featured extra will be PAID.

Extras will be UNPAID but given free lunch and credits.

Shooting Dates: Friday, May 28, Saturday, May 29, and Sunday, May 30

Location: Shot mainly in the Greater St. Louis Area and partially in St. Charles

Due to safety concerns during this ongoing pandemic, we will follow COVID safety guidelines on set, including wearing masks unless rolling, and encourage everyone to get tested 1 week prior to filming.


Please submit a 1-to-4-minute monologue using ASL, with an opening slate telling us who you are and your experience with ASL and your current hearing status. Optional to have an ASL interpreter with you, however, the focus will be on your face and body language.
