Media Production
The Communication and Media Studies Department at Santa Monica College seeks a new full-time faculty position in the Media Production program, specializing in the area of Media Sales and Management to help students successfully transfer and/or seek gainful employment in the media production industry. The faculty assignment includes at least 80% media production and no more than 20% media studies courses. This position will provide support for the various Associate’s degrees and Certificates in Media Production and Management, collaborating closely with the other Media and Film Studies faculty, as well as with other faculty members in the Communication and Media Studies Department. The exceptional candidate will also have professional experience working in media production, sales, and/or management. The candidate will have extensive and demonstrated excellence of teaching in the discipline at the community college level. Ideal candidates will have recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American and other racially minoritized students in the classroom. Candidates will also demonstrate sensitivity to issues of diversity and have the ability to motivate and teach community college students of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders, cultures and learning styles, as well as students with disabilities or varied levels of academic preparation.

Responsibilities:
• Teach courses in media sales and management;
• Teach courses in media theory;
• Maintain office hours;
• Help with administrative and logistical work to support the Communication and Media Studies Department;
• Evaluate and assess student work, and submit grades;
• Participate in various campus and staff development activities;
• Develop new curriculum and updating existing curriculum to ensure the Media Production program remains current and relevant;
• Provide service to the department and college community as needed (e.g. faculty advisor for clubs, college committees; annual program review and grant applications; writing letters of recommendation, etc.).
