The Senior Manager, Rider Digital Media will be tasked with expanding both reach and engagement with Rider fans, both locally, nationally and internationally. This role will work with cross functional teams in football operations, media relations, marketing, community outreach, retail and corporate partnerships to build out a programing, production and distribution strategy and tactical plan that supports our brand growth strategies and the objectives of these functional units mentioned above.

The Senior Manager will be the leader of two fulltime video producers/editors, one social media coordinator, one graphic design and web editor and a variety of external resources including video production houses, photographers, audio production services, contract on-air talent, analysts and other content contributors. Beyond this, our Media leader will be the senior contact with our CFL league digital team and will work with external application vendors including web, app, social and content hosting services or platforms.

Success in this role will be measured in not only what the leader accomplishes, but how he or she accomplishes his or her objectives. Measurements will include quantitative growth in terms of reach and engagement as well as qualitative growth in innovation and creative content development and distribution. The leader of Rider media will also be measured on his or her ability to engage our fan base with compelling content while navigating both internal and external demands from multiple business functions.

Day to day demands of this role will require the ability to lead staff in the planning and execution of work across the company including the development and execution of function specific media strategies and day to day content planning and development, while also having the ability, when or if needed, to get behind the camera, write scripts or interview players, coaches.

Experience / Skills

The successful candidate:

has proven leadership skills with a minimum of five years experience leading teams of at least five members.

posseses five-plus years of hands-on experience in video production, editing and distribution, being comfortable behind the camera or in the editing suite if or when needed. He or she will have a strong understanding of new and emerging media equipment, platforms and solutions.

has experience with producing content in multiple formats for multiple media channels including the distribution of video across all social channels as well as Live Streamed content.

built their career in digital/social media and have a deep understanding, appreciation and passion for digital content and industry trends with respect to social media platforms and distribution channels.

developed a strong understanding of social media platforms, their evolutionary path and the impact of content distribution and algorithm strategies on our club’s content strategies.

possesses a background in professional sports - ideally in digital media and will be comfortable with the idiosyncrasies of the professional sports environment.

loves football and have a deep understanding of the game and a great appreciation of what fans are looking for in content and engagement. You will feel comfortable engaging with players, coaches or business leaders.

is an excellent communicator, with a professional calm demeanor in high stress environments.

has the ability and professional experience to think strategically while planning and executing in a hands on way at the tactical level.

is described by their collegues as a creative leader who is constantly striving to innovate, push boundaries in content development.

is an avid consumer of professional sports content and social media across all platforms including fantasy football.

This role will require weekend and evening work as well as some overnight travel. We operate in a non-traditional work setting where irregular hours and overtime will be required from time to time, in turn we also provide job flexibility to support work-life balance.
