The Video and Audio Platform Technology group is seeking an Analyst III to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess leadership qualities and be able to take charge in situations that call for decisions and even temperament while also contributing in a hands-on capacity in our fast-paced live and on-demand streaming operation. Your role will include the coordination and communication all aspects of our acquisition, contribution, and distribution of live events on WatchESPN/ESPN3 and its International versions across mobile apps, web browsers, gaming consoles, and connected devices. You will collect, manage, and analyze live event quality of experience telemetry data to identify problem areas and act accordingly to rectify. You will perform routine quality assurance checks on live streams and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise. You will be using your technical and non-technical skills in a demanding and high pressure environment on a daily basis. As a senior member of the team you will be required to lead by example, demonstrating responsibilities related to clear communication, succinct problem definition/escalation, and documenting facts immediately and during post issue review/analysis.
Position will have a rotating schedule including extended hours on nights, weekends, and holidays.
-Ensure flawless distribution of the daily live event video and audio streaming schedule for WatchESPN/ESPN3 and related International versions.
-Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of Iive-event and on demand streaming.
-Execute defined processes to validate the quality and availability of live and on demand streams.
-Provide Tier I/II support, responding to escalations from MVPDs, Vendors, and internal teams.
-Collect and analyze real-time player and distribution system performance data, identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for action.
-Provide event and outage coordination between both internal and external teams as needed
-Software workflow development/debugging.
Experience / Skills
-A minimum of 5 years in video encoding and/or transcoding baseband video to multiple digital formats
-Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
-Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
-Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
-Demonstrated leadership qualities, leads by example.
-Strong organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills.
-Proven troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills.
-Independent, self-starter, and a team player.
-Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent.
