The Director - Product Management, Consumer Video Products will oversee the product vision and development of ESPN’s digital video consumer products. This person will own ESPN’s streaming experiences across web, native apps and OTT devices.
Overseeing a team of Product Managers, this role is responsible for setting the product vision, defining business goals, driving the user experience, and working with design and technical resources to execute on the strategy and roadmap.
The right candidate will have a strong vision and be capable of blending the fan’s perspective and desire with ESPN’s business goals. Furthermore, this person will have a diverse background and a demonstrable track record of successfully building and managing scaled, high quality, innovative applications, products, and services for a consumer-oriented organization. The right candidate must be a self-motivated, team player who can drive the overall business objectives of the organization. This person must be able to work closely with other internal and external product and technology experts.
The Director - Product Management, Consumer Video Products will be a member of the Digital Media Product Development team. The role is based in Bristol, CT.
Define product strategy, roadmap and vision for all platforms.
Leads vision, definition, and development process for all consumer facing video products.
Performs with a wide degree of latitude on creative solutions.
Is data driven and provides metrics based product leadership including risk management.
Leads product prioritization cross-functionally for accountable areas.
Develops and maintains relationships with business, technology and other ESPN teams.
Provides direction on key areas of organization and product improvement identifying and implementing solutions.
Works closely with partners to create a comprehensive plan for the product.
Manages team of product managers to develop global requirements for ESPN.
Improves fans’ experiences and interactions with ESPN Video products through the use of metrics.
Experience / Skills
7 years of work experience in a consumer-oriented digital company including product.
Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment.
Must have previous product ownership experience, including within mobile environment
Expertise around mobile application ecosystems (specifically iOS and Android; handset and tablet) and familiarity with intricacies of different platforms and devices
Passionate sports fan
Deep familiarity and passion around consumer web, application ecosystem, and mobile platforms
Must have strong analytical skills using Omniture, Google Analytics or related products
Strong communication skills
Be high energy and capable of multi-tasking
Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree.
