WHNS-TV, a Meredith Corporation station, is in search of an Engineer on a part time temporary basis. A Broadcast Engineer repairs and maintains all mechanical and electronic equipment within the broadcast facility, as well as remote microwave sites, Transmitter/Translator sites, SNG and ENG vehicles. This position repairs video and audio routers, video servers, Avid systems, studio cameras, ENG cameras and camcorders, video monitors, audio, video and rf amplifiers, microwave transmitters and receivers, intercom and IFB systems, audio production boards, graphics production equipment, and other electronic equipment generally associated with a broadcast television station.
II. Essential Job Functions

-Manage repair, Maintenance and installation of all transmitter and translator equipment single handedly in remote locations
-Performs troubleshooting of hardware and software problems on all Broadcast equipment. Repairs component or board level as appropriate.
-Provides prompt service in support of daily News Department operations and other station departments.
-Performs preventative maintenance as appropriate on station equipment
-Cross-trains other member of the technical staff, and improves/updates technical job skills.
Experience / Skills
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
-Completion of high school or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent training and/or experience preferred.
-Five years experience maintaining technical equipment in a television broadcast or Transmitter location.
-Must possess mid-level experience and knowledge of Television Transmitter-Translators, computers, servers, data infrastructure including Ethernet and fiber in support of IP and communications protocols, and computer operating systems (Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows 10, etc.).
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Ability to install and configure Television Transmitters-Translators computer hardware and software, and troubleshoot computer-related problems in support of broadcast-specific technology.
-Ability to install and configure computer hardware and software, and troubleshoot computer-related problems in support of broadcast-specific technology.
-Ability to communicate with non-technical personnel to resolve equipment issues.
-Good written and verbal skills.
