We are seeking a Vice President, Architecture and Engineering to join our team to design cutting-edge digital media platforms for one of the world's premier national broadcasters. This role collaborates with business teams to understand future growth plans and partners with leading technology vendors and service providers to proactively identify opportunities to design technology solutions that improve efficiency and create business value.

A SNAPSHOT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture and Engineering

-Build and lead brilliant architecture and engineering teams
-Represent as a lead guru developing architectural roadmaps to continually evolve FOX's architecture frameworks and infrastructure
-Analyze business and technical requirements to identify improvement opportunities
-Evaluate solutions portfolio against third party offerings, and make the big calls by selecting and maintaining relationships with third party vendors
-Drive the transition to next generation architectures and design new systems that meet security and regulatory requirements
-Forecast and create the department’s budget and manages spending

Collaboration & Partnerships

-Consult with FOX Sports, Entertainment and News and FOX executives to understand business needs, to collaborate on future growth plans, and to develop architectural solutions. You are the one that brings it all together!
-Coordinate with Media Operations teams to automate systems and prioritize highest impact technology solutions
-Partner with the Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to design and build groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues

Performance Improvement

-Know that data is critical for making informed business decisions and leverage it to understand and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your amazing team's performance
-Analyze dashboards and constantly optimize system security and testing to deliver best in class designs
-Prioritize the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team

Experience / Skills


WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Level & Role-Specific Qualifications

-8+ years leading media and broadcast engineering teams
-Understanding of industry standards from organizations such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
-Experience with production video and broadcast operations in both traditional and IP-based infrastructure environments e.g. IP routers, SDN, SMPTE 2022 & 2110, and best practices securing IP-based systems and networks
-Expertise with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms that power the modern broadcasting environment
-Previous experience with free-to-air broadcasting
-Familiarity with ATSC 3.0, RF/Satellite and terrestrial distribution technologies
-Knowledge of major broadcast systems and the vendors that supply them in areas such as graphics, transcoding, playout, master control, etc.
-Proficient working with all the major codecs including MPEG2, HEVC, and emerging codecs
-Expertise with architecture frameworks and IT infrastructure
-Able to specify HVAC and power requirements for all systems

Preferred Skills and Experience

-A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is awesome, but not required
-Understanding of emerging technologies such as 4K High Dynamic Range, and HDR10+
-Participation in standards organizations and ability to drive adherence to regulations and industry best practices
