At Linkedin Learning, our contracted lighting and grip team member works with the production team in the pre-production and production of live action projects, shot both in studio and on location. This position provides technical and physical support during the staging and set up of all camera equipment, lighting, accessories and props used during the recording process. The Lighting and Grip contractor coordinates with the Director and Stage Operations Manager to assess and prepare productions.


- Assist in planning & implementation of lighting or rigging of locations and/or sound stages
- Scout location for lighting opportunities and determine the availability of power
- Set up of broad lighting on set in advance of the shooting crew
- Focus and balance lighting including positioning reflectors/bounce boards to obtain optimal lighting results
- Position and move cameras, dollies, cranes, and other equipment as needed
- Prepare and deliver props, equipment and supplies for a studio or location filming
- Assist in the construction of sets and background scenes as needed
- Assemble and dismantle of stage sets quickly and safely
- Assist in the rigging and adjustments
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the studios.

Basic Qualifications:

- Working knowledge of light meters, lamps & gels
- Working knowledge of various camera platforms from various dollies and camera cranes
- Working knowledge of electrical systems
- Working knowledge of studio equipment including sets, props, cameras and lighting equipment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have strong collaborative skills
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to achieve projects individually and work with a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

- Degree in related field or equivalent work history
- 3 years in television or film production with lighting experience
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
- Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in set design and construction
- Working knowledge of 4k cameras
- Working knowledge of video editing practices and platforms including Adobe Premier Pro in order to complete tasks such as rough edits and keying
- Knowledge and experience with video color and camera calibration, including tools such as vectorscopes, histograms, waveform monitors
