The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Producer/Editor to support the department's Video Services office.

This position will support the Athletics Video Services unit through a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conceptualizing and producing video content for social media, recruiting, television or web distribution to service individual sport programs and the Department as a whole; videotaping of events and interviews; working with other creative professionals to develop and enact best practices and meet the Department and University's overall creative vision; multimedia asset management and archiving of gathered footage; and other creative and administrative support to assist the Director of Video Services, Post Production and Recruiting.

Sets day-to-day schedule as dictated by the needs of the Athletics Department. The incumbent has the authority to take initiative in the creative process from concept to delivery under the overall creative direction and quality control of the Director of Video Services, Post Production and Recruiting. Work will on occasion be reviewed in an effort to receive feedback and direction. All purchasing decisions must be approved by the Assistant Athletics Director for Video Services. This position requires a flexible schedule: evening and weekend hours, as assigned, and travel. Initiates communication and collaborates with various internal and external constituencies to gather information and ideas. Accountable for NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations. Consults with the Director of Video Services, Post Production and Recruiting when faced with a more challenging problem or situation beyond the scope of their duties or expertise.

Experience / Skills


Required Qualifications

*Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, related experience (4+ years) in non-linear editing and professional videography.
*Experience: With a Bachelor's, some related experience in non-linear editing and professional videography. Without a Bachelor's, 4+ years of related experience is required.
*Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to write scripts, convey plans and information clearly that is grammatically correct and of professional quality. Demonstrated knowledge of currently utilized television, audio, multimedia production and related video equipment and applications. Demonstrated ability to shoot video with the use of broadcast quality equipment. Knowledge of the professional and technical aspects of lighting, shooting, editing, compositing, and creating computer graphics. Must possess project management skills, with the ability to build and work in teams. Ability to work a flexible work schedule to cover sports events, as assigned.
*Computer Applications: Intermediate knowledge and the ability to operate Adobe Product Suite, including Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and/or other compositing software.

Preferred Qualifications
*Education: Bachelor's Degree
* Experience: Two years’ experience with non-linear editing and professional videography is preferred. Prior visual media experience with college, professional or local television sports team coverage is also highly preferred.
*Computer Applications: Advanced knowledge and ability to operate Adobe Product Suite, including Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and/or other compositing software.
