Marquee Sports Network is the future exclusive television home of the Chicago Cubs in partnership with Sinclair Broadcast Group (Nasdaq: SBGI). It will be the Chicago-region’s exclusive network for fans to view live Cubs games beginning with the 2020 Major League Baseball season and will also feature extensive pre and postgame coverage, exclusive Cubs content and other local sports programming. Marquee Sports Network brings together one of the most iconic sports franchises in the country with one of the largest television broadcasting companies to deliver unprecedented Cubs coverage for fans.
Marquee Sports Network is building out the broadcast engineering team! This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a launch of a new Regional Sports Network. Engineers will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment in an all-IP broadcast infrastructure in a brand-new facility across the street from America’s most cherished MLB ballpark. We are hiring multiple positions and are looking for people with both traditional electronics/maintenance skills and people who specialize in broadcast IT systems.
Ideal candidates will have considerable experience installing and maintaining:
-Production switchers, cameras, and graphics systems
-Video editing and archive systems, video servers, and replay systems
-Encoders and transmission equipment
-Wireless microphones, audio mixers, and intercom systems
-Office PC workstation hardware and software
-Bonus points for experience launching a new Regional Sports Network
-Bonus points for familiarity with Avid software and hardware, especially if ACSR certified
Experience / Skills
We prefer candidates with at least five years of broadcast engineering experience at a regional sports network, TV station, or production company, but will consider related video / audio production or engineering experience. Most importantly, we are looking for people who are:
-Self-starters who work well with others in a team environment and without direct supervision
-Current on broadcast engineering skills and modern broadcast standards and systems
-Proficient in basic IT standards and practices
-Able to run and terminate cables including coaxial, twisted pair, audio, and a willingness to learn about fiber optic cables and transceivers
-Solid communicators with excellent written and oral communication skills
-Able to prioritize work in high-pressure situations
-Eager to learn new technologies and expand their skill set
Additionally, work environment requirements consist of:
-Able to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs
-Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and occasional holidays
-Able to participate in an on-call rotation
