Science and video have an increasingly intertwining relationship. Combining the two make learning more accessible and have a positive impact, but in the fast-paced world of online video, it takes an adept and multi-talented production team to make it work. Do you have the skills to help our team make videos explaining scientific concepts in an informative and engaging way?
Experience / Skills
Like all of SciShow's video editors, or as we call ourselves: Videomakers, you will translate scientific concepts from a script into a dynamic and engaging video. The majority of the time in your day will be used to plan and implement motion graphics and other visuals to help explain the science in a video. Don't worry, you don't need an advanced degree in a scientific field to do the job well, most of our team learn along the way. We work quickly, and you could be assigned one, two, or even three videos a week so familiarity with Adobe and YouTube is helpful. From raw footage to upload, you'll have your hand in every step of the post-production process for your assigned videos. To add to that, about once a week you will be on set either directing hosts, filming, or script supervising. A lot of your work will be independent, but we're still a team and you should be able to communicate with our hosts, your co-workers, and our community effectively and respectfully.
At Complexly, we make educational videos that help our audiences develop a nuanced and complex view of the world around us. SciShow is one of our flagship YouTube channels with over 5 million subscribers, 3 spinoff channels, and one podcast produced in partnership with WNYC Studios. SciShow seeks to inspire curiosity in a diverse audience of lifelong learners, through daily science content.
