University of Iowa Health Care - Multimedia Producer
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Marketing and Communications is seeking a Multimedia Producer. This position will facilitate and create video and multi-media productions for Ul Health Care.
This position is responsible for the development, acquiring, creation, and implementation of video and multimedia components for use on the Web and other digital channels. Duties include the planning, writing, shooting, audio engineering, non-linear post-production editing, and final distribution of digital video files for marketing and communications major multimedia projects. The Multimedia producer will also be tasked with the creation and implementation of various animation and design projects in collaboration with the design team to produce clean, branded vector graphic video and gif content for the website and social media utilizing 3D based systems such as After Effects, Blender and Cinema 4D. Duties also include occasional photography support and management for various portrait, event based and specialty projects.
These videos are generally high-visibility initiatives that reach UI Health Care’s most important audiences: patients, families, staff, referring physicians, and other key constituents. The scope of these projects is vast, working with different clinics and departments throughout the hospital and medical school, with a specific focus on our priority service lines, which currently consist of: Children’s, Cancer, Heart, Neurosciences, Orthopedics, Education, Surgery and Research.
Experience / Skills
-BA/BS in journalism, communications, mass media production of electronic media or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Demonstrated experience (at least 2 years) in multimedia production in a related position.
-Demonstrated excellent written and verbal skills.
-Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects.
-Superb collaborative, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
-High degree of collaborative efforts in small team and large team environments.
-Drive to continually learn and improve by examining other multimedia works internally and externally.
-Ability to work occasional weekend, early morning and night productions.
-Advanced degree in journalism, related field or equivalent level of work experience.
-Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issue, including equipment during on-location production sessions.
-Ability to develop graphic animations in After Effects or similar 3D software in collaboration with the design department using programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign to produce high quality, branded, and engaging content for the website and social media accounts. Additional animation support for the video team and other units within Marketing Communications required.
-Working knowledge of MS/WINDOWS and Macintosh OS systems and a working knowledge and the utilization of engineering systems for special event broadcast/webcast.
-Experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment, and knowledge of current trends in specific areas of expertise.
-Creativity, self-motivation, and a high degree of production and post-production skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
-Ability to edit using Final Cut Pro and/ or Adobe Premiere Pro; familiarity with capture devices such as Canon 5DMkIII and IV, C100/300, GoPro Cameras or similar and knowledge of wireless microphones; and digital audio recorders.
Experience and confidence operating and co-operating gimbal stabilization systems such as the MoVI or DJI Ronin.
-Ability to execute occasional post-production timelines of 1 business day, or similar quick turnaround demands.
-Understanding of industry trends/developments and ability to adopt practices and recommend purchases for internal use.
-Ability to utilize Nikon or Canon cameras and execute staged and candid flash photography.
-Provide functional and administrative supervision of student staff plus direction, allocation of assignments, constructive feedback, coaching and counseling to assure objectives are achieved for educational, informational, research based, and motivational/entertainment-based projects.
