Primarily responsible for supporting news and master control operations during the week as well as on-call weekends. Responsibilities will also include servicing satellite encoders and decoders, microwave systems, in-house RF, and other RF systems. Inside the studio this engineer will participate in the normal maintenance activities that are required in a TV station, including supporting switchers, cameras, computers, ENG/SNG vehicles, master control and newsroom automation systems etc. Person will troubleshoot network issues related to broadcast systems and work with the IT department to resolve them. This person will actively work on engineering projects while collaborating with other team members.

Duties:

-Maintenance and repair of all technical equipment in studio and transmitter facilities, satellite downlink and microwave transmission systems
-Design, execution and management of engineering projects as directed by Director of Engineering and Engineering Manager
-Development and maintenance of technical documentation such as drawings, technical bulletins, and version notes
-Work and communicate with the local IT team to ensure compliance and interoperability for broadcast systems
-Preparation and timely delivery of required logs, status information, and reports.
-Must be able to use tools to effectively troubleshoot, diagnose and repair RF and studio equipment
-Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and public.

Experience / Skills


JOB REQUIREMENTS

-Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
-5+ years of working experience in broadcast engineering preferred
-Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations, applicable electrical, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods important
-Solid working knowledge of PCs, networks, routers, MS operating systems and application software such as Word and Excel preferred
-Basic transmitter experience is a plus
-Must be able to work independently as well as with teams
-Must be able to work day, night, and weekend shifts when necessary
-Must be able to pull cable through walls, ceilings, and floors
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
-Should be comfortable working on ladders and overhead
-Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and basic construction techniques helpful
