The Operations Manager partners with other managers to build and implement the company’s strategic vision. You will focus on building scalable systems and processes, managing key client relationships, staffing projects effectively, helping employees grow their skills and passions, and leading internal initiatives.
This role is right for a person who is willing to undertake the challenge of growing a company from 10 to 100 people, and perfect for someone who has been through that growth before. It is also right for folks who get excited about staying on top of an industry with constantly shifting technology. Equal parts left- and right-brained, the role will require oversight of creative assets, hands-on production, and business administration.
This role is wrong for a person who operates in a silo: collaboration and communication are essential. The Operations Manager sits at the hub where all other departments connect, and helps us all grow.
Establish, build and operationalize current systems and processes
Seeing around corners and being responsive to evolving needs, deliverables, workstreams
Manage a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities
Establish internal/team partnership goals, roles, responsibilities, and maintaining adherence to timelines and client needs
Lead meetings and status with all stakeholders, including staff, management, and clients
Approve employee timesheets and time-off requests
Approve and manage payroll using ADP’s payroll system
Build relationships with partners and clients through thought leadership, networking, and community engagement
Continue to manage relationships even when not actively engaged in a project
Identifying and leading pro-bono project opportunities that enhance the position of the company
Actively seek out prospective projects and opportunities that align with company’s strategic vision
Assign staff to projects
Continually develop and train a diverse roster of contractors to support staff and projects as needed
Create space to reflect on, critique, and debrief that allows us to learn and grow
Provide feedback and direction to the creative department on all assets, including graphic design, video design, and other media generation
Develop and improve internal and external review processes so all content is pixel-perfect
Identify and train on new tools and methodologies that improve efficiency and quality
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment on invoices from clients and efficient payout to vendors
Generate and disseminate purchase orders for internal and external projects
Manage expenses and transactions through QuickBooks Online
Work with accountant and bookkeeper to keep financial data accurate and timely

Experience / Skills
7+ years' experience in managing people and teams; multiple years of managing multiple teams and nationally distributed staff is strongly preferred
Background in events, broadcast, advertising, or software preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate relationships and negotiate with internal and external clients
Strong strategic and analytical planning and problem-solving skills
Leadership experience with an ability to make a large impact on our company and clients
Exceptional business savvy, technical acumen, and executive presence, combined with analytical and organizational skills
Comfort being a self-starter
Ability to work in details as well as operate at a high level and set the team strategy and direction
Exceptional communication skills -- you cultivate an environment where team members respect each other and work together to deliver high quality products
Experienced in partnering with and bringing multiple departments into alignment
Exceptional awareness of diversity and inclusion initiatives
