Spark Street Digital is hiring a Webcast Technician based in its San Francisco office.

Spark Street Digital is a small livestream production company. We create beautiful, high-definition, multi-camera live webcasts, from events large and small – in-person, and fully-virtual.
We collaborate with Fortune 500 companies, Presidential campaigns, the federal government, major foundations, and tiny nonprofits. We believe in our clients’ missions, and we believe that we can advance their work with powerful tools for real-time communication. Especially now, as COVID-19 continues to disrupt in-person communication, these tools are more necessary than ever. And so, with demand for live streaming at record levels, we are growing to meet that demand.

The Webcast Technician role has a few main elements:

Webcast setup and production. For in-person events, this includes setting up and operating cameras, switchers, lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment.
At this time, however, nearly all of our events are fully virtual. For these broadcasts, technicians operate our off-site livestream control room, pulling in speaker video feeds, integrating graphics, audio and prerecorded video into compelling virtual experiences.

Preparation of post-production deliverables, including archive videos and webcast analytics.
Refinement of our webcasting rigs: selecting, testing and integrating new equipment.
While this is a role that requires broad production knowledge, we also encourage team members to develop their skills in areas of production that particularly interest them: among current technicians, many cultivate particular specialties in video signal flow, audio engineering, broadcast flypack design, and more.

To apply, please submit a resume and answer the two additional questions to sf-wt@sparkstreetdigital.com. No phone calls, please.

Questions:

Share a recent professional victory of which you and your team were especially proud.
What is something you’ve been wanting to do on a production to take it to the next level?

Experience / Skills

This role would be a good fit for someone with 3-6 years of professional (or relevant internship) experience in AV or video production.

There are many specific skills involved in producing a live stream, and we don’t expect applicants will have them all right off the bat. We are more interested in making sure people in this role have the ability to acquire new skills quickly.
Strong candidates will have several of the below:
Broadcast switcher experience.
Live stream encoding experience.
Strong computing skills.
HD camera experience.
Familiarity with fundamental audiovisual equipment.
Experience with major non-linear editing software such as Final Cut Pro.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
More broadly: we like solving problems, and we like to work with others who do too. If you enjoy coming up with clever, thoughtful systems for getting important work done efficiently, you’ll fit right in. And if the idea of helping take a new, growing company to the next level sounds exciting, we should talk.
