The Mill Group, Inc. seeks Head of Technology to work in Chicago, IL. Manage and direct the maintenance of the Mill’s existing facility infrastructure, plan future upgrades, and direct the business units’ technical expansion to facilitate the caliber and quality of work our clients expect now and for the future. Oversee the testing of new technologies, the evaluation of their viable business purpose, and the decommissioning of equipment that has reached the end of its service life. Manage a team of individuals responsible for carrying out component parts of facility maintenance and liaise with departments to determine technological needs and desires. Collaborate with the Head of Technology in other Mill offices to ensure seamless and reliable technology across all business units in Los Angeles, New York Chicago, London, and Bangalore. Manage the maintenance, support and upgrades of onsite and offsite equipment, software and cabling. Oversee technical research of current technologies including work stations, broadcast equipment, color imagery and software and recommend appropriate action, i.e., upgrade, replace, rewire, reconfigure, etc., and delegate responsibilities accordingly. Ensure safety of all technical areas including Machine Control Room, suites, workshops and storage areas by overseeing maintenance of space. Manage and coordinate the upgrades, installation and movement of systems in a timely manner to ensure the production schedule is maintained. Collaborate with the Facility Manager regarding technical building issues (e.g., tripped fuses) and develop and recommend solutions. Direct the response to technical requests from operations, production and scheduling. Manage quality control on all projects undertaken and make recommendations accordingly. Experience / Skills

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical or IT Engineering, and eight (8) years of experience in a related position in a professional film, video, or television post-production or visual effects environment. Work experience or academic coursework must have included: Three (3) years of experience in UNIX/Linux, Mac OSX and Windows system administration; knowledge of AWS/GCP concepts and workflows; engineering-level knowledge of standard computer graphics, compositing and color grading applications Maya, Houdini, Flame, Nuke and Baselight; MacOS and Windows configuration; system administration knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and DHCP; and Python 2 and 3. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally 10% of time.
