Assistant Athletics Director, Creative Services

Supports Tulane athletic programs and external departments to promote and enhance, through social media as well as digital, video, and creative content, the brand of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
This position serves as the point person for the creative services department, while overseeing the production of all digital and multimedia content. This person will create, define, shape and execute the strategies for social and digital media, creative video and graphic design to engage current fans, with a focus on increasing engagement and followers. This person will work closely with the external departments to collaborate and strategize on integrated digital media plans, email communications, brand management, and marketing plans with a focus on fan engagement, revenue generation, and increased awareness of the Tulane athletic programs. Further, this position is responsible for driving continuous improvement in social media metrics as well as creative video and graphic design services.

The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments that require immediate attention. Must possess the knowledge of online communications tools, with special attention to creative video and social media applications, while adapting to new technologies as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Oversees and supervises the creative services staff and serves as the department lead. (35%) 2. Organize, plan and oversee all aspects associated with the production of athletic digital and multimedia content. Create, define, shape and execute social media and creative video strategies to engage the fan base and community. Create and generate high-quality creative content to engage the Tulane Athletics fan base. Some detailed duties include but are not limited to:Conducts social media promotional campaigns to gain more followers, increase engagement, and raise awareness to build the Tulane athletics brand; manages publishing calendar that includes videos, stories, graphics, and pictures from within the athletics department; coordinates multiple marketing and social related projects around tight deadlines; collaborates with marketing, communications, broadcasting and development staffs to manage creative consistency of all internal and external athletics communications; covers Tulane Athletics games and events, providing real-time content across all social media platforms; creates innovative concepts to showcase our student-athlete and programs in an effort to drive social media traffic; coordinates multiple video, graphic and social related projects around tight deadlines; and creates engaging video content from shooting through editing and finalization. (35%) 3. Analyze data trends to organize and provide strategies to the external units in the areas of social media, email communications, video creation, and additional external strategies to effectively grow the brand of Tulane Athletics while sharing important information with the Tulane fan base. Some detailed duties include but are not limited to: Utilizes insight tools to produce decision-making metrics; gathers and reviews data and analytics to communicate to sales, marketing, development and communications staffs; develops and present recommendations to athletics staff on digital trends; identifies and interprets social media trends for brand benefit; and monitors weekly ROI, analyze key takeaways from paid media for each game, make recommendations on future spends, optimize spends. (20%) 4. NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations. (5%) 5. Experience / Skills

Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree
2. 5 years’ experience in the marketing, video or public relations field
3. Professional experience in social media strategy, digital design, video editing and video shooting capabilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:
1. A good understanding of social media and creative video trends and technologies
2. Working knowledge and real world experience in planning, managing and executing social media, video and digital media initiatives.
3. Solid working knowledge of industry standard software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.
4. Knowledge of email services, ideally Adobe Campaign and Moveable Ink, or similar programs.
5. Efficient audio and video editing skills.
6. Must possess the ability to learn new technologies, techniques and solve problems quickly and completely.
7. Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
8. Strong sense of professionalism & judgment in response to issues in the public social media space.
9. Ability to interact effectively and timely with coaches, administrators, student athletes, media and vendors
10. Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
11. Proven ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
12. Strong verbal and writing skills
13. Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
14. Possible travel with sport teams for select away contests
15. Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations

1. Master’s Degree
2. Previous experience at the NCAA DI level
