Block by Block is seeking an experienced lead video editor with excellent motion graphics skills. As lead editor, you work closely with the creative team to craft compelling stories across a wide range of issues. You know how to take the footage and expertly weave it into engaging content for each audience and platform. You are creative, passionate, efficient, and a great team player. You are an expert in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and other Adobe Suite apps, with a fast computer and internet connection.
Block by Block Creative helps nonprofits, campaigns, NGOs, and other mission-driven organizations connect to audiences through creative storytelling in our key issue areas: criminal justice reform, disability rights, environmental justice, democracy protection, and science communications. We run a highly collaborative remote team working on multiple projects at once. Our new editor/motion designer will serve in a lead creative role handling picture and sound editing, color correction, motion graphics design, and other related tasks. More than anything, our team focuses on building unique stories that are universally accessible and designed for impact. We are looking for an experienced, passionate storyteller to bring a bold vision to our team.
This is a remote contract position, for an average of 40 hours a week. An initial 3 month contract will start in January 2022, with the expectation of an extension beyond the initial period. Rate is $45-$55/hour DOE.
You will be required to attend our weekly team meetings and occasional ad hoc meetings or training online via videochat. While working mostly on your own with a flexible schedule, you must be available during core weekday hours to complete assignments and make deadlines.
Ingest, transcode, and organize media.
Perform video editing, sound mix, color correction, and final delivery for short videos.
Design and apply graphics, titles, and transitions.
Implement changes based on notes.
Prepare deliverables for various outlets in different dimensions and versions - Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, screenings, etc.
Participate in pre-production discussions.
Maintain brand consistency on all deliverables.
Pitch in on other creative content as necessary
Send resume, cover letter, and a link to three recent whole videos that showcase your editing work. Reels are optional. We will evaluate applications on a rolling basis.

Experience / Skills
5+ years of fast-paced short-form video post production, with proven experience on non-profit, NGO or advocacy videos.
Excellent storytelling skills. Be able to mold footage into engaging content appropriate for the audience and platform.
Excellent problem-solving skills. Be able to take feedback from organizational stakeholders and implement changes according to direction.
Willingness to wear many hats and work collaboratively on a team, while being able to work self-directed when necessary.
Knowledge of media codecs and exporting.
Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro.
Proficiency with After Effects for 2D titles and graphics work.
Experience with creating accessible media, including captioning and audio description, a plus.
You must be fully set up to edit video using Adobe Creative Cloud, and be able to receive footage and post edits via a reliable internet connection. You must run your Adobe programs on a MacOS system.
Available during business hours, starting January 2022.
