Freelance 2nd Camera & Technical Assistant
Delish is searching for a 2nd Camera & Technical Assistant to assist our video team. This person will act as second camera on shoots, and generally assist our Director of Photography with lighting set-ups, equipment maintenance and more. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly attentive to detail and excel in a fast-paced environment, be capable of balancing multiple projects simultaneously, and will be a problem-solver who is quick on their feet. The ideal candidate will also bring both creative and technical expertise to all projects they work on. This position will report to our Director of Photography. This is a freelance position with a day rate between $400 - $600/day depending on experience, 2-3 days a week at our New York-based studio. What you’ll do:
• Act as second camera on celebrity or hosted shoots, on-set support for our DP during recipe shoots, audio and digital tech when needed, and a resource to reference previous footage or stills for continuity.
• Set up, rig and breakdown lighting setups for shoots as needed with best practices for electrical distribution and safety in mind.
• Assist with the organization and upkeep of our equipment room including: equipment coordination, maintenance and repairs
• Assist our DP with studio and camera management, including firmware updates, computer updates, coordination with our photo and central video post-production teams.
• Assist with onboarding freelancer and freelancer admin
• Deliver and format media cards, return equipment rentals, and other general video admin tasks as assigned.
Experience / Skills
Technical Requirements:
• Proficient in Cinema, DSLR and mobile cameras. Sony knowledge is preferred.
• Proficient understanding of lighting equipment including (but not limited to) Arri Sky Panel, Aputure, Litepanel Astra, Quasars, Kinos, Litemats, Tungsten units
• Proficiency with recording audio on set– setting up boom mics, running hidden lavaliers for talent, proficiency with Sennheiser and Rode GO wireless systems a plus
• Proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro
• Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite applications, including a strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, and Photoshop a plus
• Familiarity with audio mixing and color grading/correction DaVinci Resolve a plus
• Familiarity with equipment and rental house procedures a plus
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Film/Art/Photography or equivalent experience
• 3 years minimum experience in production and shooting
• Solid technical camera operating skills
• Skilled in lighting multiple setups: 3-point lighting, seamless lighting, product lighting
• Excellent editing skills and time management capabilities
• Solid understanding of story structure and episodic formats
• Ideal candidate will be tech savvy and knowledgeable about up-and-coming aspects of film and video production
• Can carry 50 lbs of equipment
• Expert communication, organization and problem-solving skills
