Producer/Director

The University Communications team is seeking a producer/director who can help support our video team and capture the Ole Miss experience. Working within the Marketing & Brand Strategy unit, the producer/director is responsible for creating video content that conveys the value and importance of the university's work to various stakeholders. Through creative video storytelling, we hope to inspire the investment of time, resources, ideas, advocacy, influence, and more from all University of Mississippi audiences. We're seeking a candidate who will produce high-quality video projects within designated deadlines and budgets spanning multiple platforms. The preferred candidate will oversee the creation of documentary and promotional projects, and will fulfill daily video assignments for marketing purposes and editorial needs. These videos will target a wide spectrum of audiences, from prospective and current students to alumni and donors, from industry partners to the general public.

The producer/director is a creative, collaborative, professional who oversees projects from conception to completion, with high-level camera, audio, and editing skills. This individual will be tasked with scheduling productions, maintaining inventory of video-related equipment, and managing a staff of video production interns. This position reports directly to the producer/director II.

Experience/Skills

Bachelor's degree in Communication, Broadcasting, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university and two (2) years of experience in a producer position at an agency, commercial production company, or in-house marketing communications or creative services department. Requires a comprehensive knowledge of current video software recognized as industry standards such as all Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc. Knowledge of lighting techniques and audio techniques as well as positioning are required as is a strong working knowledge of video equipment. The candidate should have excellent time management skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with constant deadlines. A professional portfolio that represents a knowledge and expertise of high-quality video production work is required.
