Continuing its role as a digital leader in media, the Digital Product Development team will develop and deliver a number of strategic digital product initiatives.
We are looking for a candidate that can serve as a video engineer within our development team, helping to drive the NBA digital products to the forefront as we deliver video to consumers and other business partners. This will include infrastructure management and design to deliver low-latency video to digital products both internal to the NBA and external.
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong experience with understanding the many aspects to digital video delivery from latency, to embedded metadata and the various formats to achieve performance.
-Engineer end-to-end multimedia infrastructure and delivery for consumption in web and native apps
-Leverage cloud and CDN vendors for low-latency delivery of streaming video to both consumer and partner systems
-Make iterative improvements to deliver reliable and flexible streaming content
-Develop and own multimedia delivery strategies and methodology
-Deployment and daily management of live encoding workflows
-Understand and build in the latency and data requirements to video workflows required by a multimedia sports organization
-Develop automation tools for scaling the delivery of video content to partners
-Respond to and work with technical resources to isolate and resolve system issues
-Provide after-hours and weekend support for production systems when needed
Experience / Skills
-Strong knowledge of Amazon or Azure MediaServicesinclusive of Elemental MediaLive, MediaConnect, MediaTailor, and MediaPackage or Azure Media Service workflow
-Strong knowledge of video delivery over industry-leading CDNs (Akamai, Cloudfront, Level3, etc.)
-Strong knowledge of encoding protocols (AAC, H.264, H.265) and streaming protocols (RTMP, HDS, HLS, DASH)
-Proven track record of getting things done, handling multiple tasks including communication with internal and external teams while consistently delivering on schedule.
-Understanding of SDLC and project planning/execution skills
-Understanding of IP networking
-Understanding of Linux command line skills
-3+ years of IP-based video streaming development experience (or equivalent).
-3+ years of experience working in the field of web and mobile-webdevelopment.3+ years of working in an Agile (Scrum) product (mobile, web, tablet) environment.
-BS in computer science, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
