The NHL Studios Control Room Technician is full-time position. Candidate should have an extensive knowledge of the NHL including its history, current teams, players and coaches.
The ideal candidate will play an integral role in the NHL Studios’ control room and studio end-to-end operations for both live, and live to tape, productions. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the operation of modern production switchers, robotic and traditional studio cameras, studio lighting consoles and magic sheets, as well EVS IP Director, the Xpression graphics system and audio consoles. Knowledge of the EVS DYVI Switcher is a plus. Experience with LAWO audio Viztool is a bonus. Lengthy experience operating studio cameras, both as an operator and a utility is preferred. Experience using and programming a Multiview wall for all workstations.
The Control Room and Studio Technician will have a successful track record of navigating a hectic control room environment with the ability to react quickly and in calm professional manner.
In addition to the control room duties, this role will also require experience editing on Adobe Premiere Pro, the Creative Cloud Suite, and being adaptive to post-production workflows and the standard industry software solutions associated with file-based media and delivery. Asset management experience is a plus.
Self-starter and team player who can work on their own while also taking direction from others, implementing suggestions in a cordial and professional manner.
The ability to operate all equipment listed in the summary above within the control room and studio.
Switcher, studio audio, cameras, lighting, EVS playback, and Ross Xpression graphics will all fall under responsibilities of this individual.
Lengthy experience operating studio cameras, both as an operator and a utility.
Trouble-shooting equipment operational problems while working with Manager, Broadcast Engineering to resolve
Help coordinate incoming and outgoing live feeds.
Work with a team of staff and freelance directors, producers and editors and other control room technicians and operators.
Solid client relations skills.
Must be flexible with working hours, as night hours and weekends will be required at times. This individual’s workday can extend as production demands change, so schedule flexibility is a key component to the position.
Travel may be required.
Experience / Skills
BA or equivalent.
Must have 7+ years of relevant experience in studio production, remote production and/or post-production roles.
Ideal candidate should have at least 7+ years of relevant experience in television studio production and remote production.
The candidate must also have post-production experience, specifically editing within Adobe Premiere and applicable programs within the Creative Cloud Suite.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
French or additional languages a plus.
