What We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills is seeking two (2) outstanding Senior Video Production Specialists (Regular Part-time). This position performs a variety of technical duties including non-linear editing, camera operation, film, and switch live video production for City programs, meetings and events. The ideal candidate for this position has a diverse experience working with video/audio content, production, film, editing. The ideal candidate will also be responsible, dependable, and displays a passion and commitment to working in a dynamic video production and post-production environment. We are looking for a team player, has an outstanding communication skills, customer service ethic, and enjoys working with a diverse group of people. This position reports directly to the Video Production Supervisor

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position and will be working a non-traditional work schedule, which may include evenings and weekends (including both Saturdays & Sundays).

Major Duties

DEFINITION
A Senior Video Production Specialist performs professional and technical video production duties requiring specialized knowledge; to plan, organize, direct and switch live coverage of City meetings; and to provide highly responsible professional support to assigned management.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the advanced journey level class in the professional, part-time hourly Video Production Specialist series. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, including performing switching and direction of live meetings, and providing technical and function supervision over assigned staff.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Switch and direct live coverage of City Council and Commission meetings.
Perform camera operation and field production for a variety of City events.
Perform post-production support, including editing, for a variety of programming.
May plan, prioritize, and review the work of staff assigned to video production work.
Develop schedules and methods to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.

Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
Perform related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general direction from the Video Production Supervisor and Multimedia Services Manager.
May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned professional staff.

Experience / Skills


Experience and Training

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Two years of responsible journey experience similar to Video Production Specialist with the City of Beverly Hills.

Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in television production or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:
Principles, techniques and equipment used in broadcast video and television program production.
Post-production software and editing techniques. Techniques of multi-camera switched live program directing.
Principles and practices of technical and functional supervision and training.

Ability to:
Perform the most complex duties related to switching and directing live television programming.
Provide technical and functional supervision over assigned staff; effectively train staff. Operate software and equipment used in video and audio production.
Use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
Operate and use standard office equipment including computers and applicable software.
Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.
Utilize appropriate safety procedures and practices for assigned duties.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and effective manner.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
