IBC Preview with Pond5's Andy Goetze!
Q: Can you share a little bit about your company and what makes it stand out from the rest?
A: Pond5 is the largest provider of royalty-free stock footage clips in the world.
We offer access to over 1.2 million video clips, for use in any kind of postproduction, from TV/broadcast over animation and visual effects to creative agencies and digital signage. We are also one of the largest archives on the web for music tracks and sound effects, with over 330,000 files. As a full service digital marketplace for creative media, we provide additionally millions of images and illustrations and thousands of After Effects projects and 3D models. Pond5 offers all possible kinds of stock media in one place. We are unique in allowing our content producers to set their own prices for their creative work; and they receive always 50% of the revenues.
Q: What new product(s) is your company showcasing at IBC 2012 this year?
A: Together with Adobe we have just developed a new Plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, right in time for IBC. It allows video editors seamless access to our footage and audio collections, all exclusively within Adobe Premiere. So far no other stock footage agency has developed one within Adobe Premiere Pro.
Users no longer need to leave the application Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and to interrupt their workflow, all – creating new content using our royalty-free stock footage and audio content – is now done easily within Adobe Premiere Pro. The new plug-in requires Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (or later versions) and Mac OS 10.6.8 resp. Windows 7. It was developed by a Pond5 engineering team in Germany, Switzerland and the US.
Adobe has created an introduction on how to install and how to use the new plug-in, and demonstrates which new and great possibilities it offers. You can watch an introduction on Adobe TV: tv.adobe.com
Q: What trends in technology do you see on the horizon?
A: Since a few years we are experiencing a fast-paced time of disruptive change in content production and content consumption of stock media. The explosion of digital content creation and the proliferation of affordable DSLR cameras capable to produce high quality HD videos have set new milestones and opened up the world of stock media further.
We believe that many more users and companies will produce more and consume more stock media, like, in both cases, royalty-free footage, audio and images.
Pond5 is working on leveraging new customer demand-driven technological solutions, new distribution channels and monetization options for creative content in the future - transforming the power of disruptive technologies to benefit our creative content buyers and producers.
Q: What are you most excited to see while at IBC 2012?
A: IBC offers an unique possibility to meet many of our existing and new partners in the IBC area of Post Production & New Media in Hall 6 and 7, as well as in the areas of Content Creation and Service & Broadcasters - all in one place. We are especially curious about new professional developments in the DCC industry and in all things related to 3D graphics and animation - IBC is the place to be to keep you in the loop and to stay up-to-date.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
A: We are going to launch a new version, the V2, of our website soon. Check it out shortly at www.pond5.com!
