Q&A with Sony Creative Software
Q: What new products is Sony Creative Software offering for audio production and post-production?
We kicked off summer 2010 by launching ACID Music Studio 8, Sound Forge Audio Studio 9, and Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum. ACID Music Studio now features a Console with expanded viewing and routing features, smoother time stretching and pitch shifting functionality, more tools for remix artists, and enhanced drag and drop functionality that helps make project creation faster than ever. Sound Forge Audio Studio sports more file format options, the ability to process larger files, 24-bit/96 kHz support, audio restoration tools, and more. New audio features in Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum include surround mixing and encoding, restoration tools, better time stretching and pitch shifting, and 360 royalty-free, ready-to-use music soundtracks.
Q: What changes in professional workflow are you seeing, and how has that fed into your development of these latest products?
In our Pro product line, we’ve responded to calls for multi-channel audio editing capabilities, 3D video editing tools, and support for contemporary formats. We’re constantly tailoring our applications to respond to the demands of rapid-response media production in all areas from broadcast to web.
Q: For audio production and post-production, what range of end-users do you see using your software?
Everyone, from absolute beginners to consummate professionals working the full spectrum of music and sound production. Our Studio products are an incredible value—never before has the current range of features been available at this level. As always, our ACID software products are supported by our own Sony Sound Series line of sample library and sound effects titles, which are now downloadable for near-instantaneous original, royalty-free music production. And don’t forget—the Vegas platform is an excellent DAW!
Q: What educational resources do you recommend to best learn how to use your software? Any particular classes, seminars, online tutorials, or books?
Our software products all come with extensive online help. Our Seminar Series is perfect for people who like going through guided, hands-on tutorial sessions. Our Webinar sessions are free and available for viewing at our site. VASST.com provides incredible training materials for our products. Last but certainly not least, our end users are incredibly into our products, and they love sharing what they know at YouTube and other online sources.
