Recently, The Urology Group in Cincinnati Ohio sponsored a tribute event to mark the 50th anniversary of the last U.S. troops returning home from the war in Vietnam. The event was held at the Cintas Center at Xavier University, with 400 local Vietnam Veterans in attendance. CVRKLE was commissioned with filming the stories of multiple serviceman to tell crowd of 2,000 attendees about their experiences in the war and their return home. Filming took place at the DAV National HQ in Erlanger Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati, in a public museum area with relics from all past American wars. It served as a fitting backdrop with which to share their experiences, and leant itself as a visual aid and context for their stories. We were able to source and sift through hours of footage obtained from the National Archives; all of which were low quality scans from film shot in Vietnam. We were able to color correct, grade, and de-noise some of the footage for inclusion as B-Roll for the stories they shared. Paired with a custom music score, the story served as a moving centerpiece to the event.
