About Me
Lain Ewing is a director whose work explores human connections through dark optimism, the struggle of self, and redemption. She gained her voice as a filmmaker after working abroad at a movie studio in the Philippines. It sparked her curiosity for imagery, style, and presenting the ordinary in an extraordinary way. Lain has completed three narrative shorts: 60MG, a film about mental health, Red Flags, a film exploring missing the signs around us; and Sirene, an award-winning short about making your own luck. Her work has received high praise and earned her Best Director at Marriott's 2019 CRN 48-Hour Film Challenge. In addition to her short films, Lain has directed branded content for YMCA, Yelp, and Anthem.
Currently, Lain is assistant to Director Kevin Bray (Succession, Insecure, Suits) working in episodic television and is in the 2020 WIF Mentoring Program for Directors. Her professional relationship with Bray and other T.V. directors has offered her the opportunity to learn what goes into prepping and directing an episode of T.V. Lain has shadowed on Snowfall, Blackish, Insecure, and The Morning Show. Outside of television, Lain is passionate about volunteering and has directed live theatre for "Homeward LA," a project addressing the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.
I have been in the industry since 1983.
