Steve is an award-winning creative, director and producer with vast experience in advertising, marketing, network promotions, programming and branded content.He is a seasoned and dynamic director when combining live action with animation and visual effects. Steve is also an auto racer who brings a unique perspective while filming cars or motorsports.
As a creative leader, Steve combines conceptual thinking with strong business leadership in a collaborative, team environment.
Steve co-founded two creative firms including the Denver/Los Angeles based Impossible Pictures, a creative agency and production company. He also co-founded Flying Saucer Films, an unscripted programming and documentary company for television.
His work includes commercials, brand videos, network promotions, documentaries and programming for such iconic brands as Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, DISH Network, Pepsi, Ford, Dupont, Starz, HGTV, Toyota, Food Network, The Sundance Channel and NBC Sports.
Steve has worked with artists and celebrities including Smokey Robinson, Jeff Gordon, Elton John, Beyonce', Robin Thicke, Giada DeLaurentiis, Bobby Flay, Blair Underwood, Mario Andretti and Patrick Dempsey.
Steve comes from a legacy of film and television professionals. He was mentored by his grandfather Carl Urbano, who animated such beloved shows like The Flintstones and The Jetsons. Steve's career began as a graphic designer and art director. As a director, he started as a computer animator and visual effects supervisor, leading to creative directing and live action.
Awards include Clios, National Addys, Tellys and numerous EMMYs. He's been honored by the Broadcast Design Association and the Art Director’s Club.
When not behind the camera, Steve's passion is auto racing. He was named the 2011 Formula Rookie of the Year by Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing.
