I am a freelance composer and sound designer for advertising, television, film, web, and interactive - you name it.
WORK: I have written the final original music and sound design for a number of agencies, with clients such as Toyota, Wendy's, Volvo, Samsung, Ford, HBO, Hyundai, Dunkin' Donuts, and Audi among others - including a 2011 Superbowl spot for Planters. I have also placed music and sound design with a number of network and cable television shows, indie films, and many interactive and web projects. I am ALWAYS open to anything new and exciting to work on! Feel free to check out my music and sound design reels at: chrisjamesaudio.com.
BACKGROUND: I received a BS in Radio/TV/Film Production from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. After a few years of recording bands and interning, I moved to work in NYC for Human Music and Sound Design for 3 years producing and composing music and sound design, as well as freelance composing from my home studio. In 2009, I moved back to Austin, continuing to freelance and enjoying the robust and diverse group of musical talent the city provided. In January of 2011, I started full time for SOUTH MSD as a Senior Composer and Sound Designer. After 18 months as a staff composer, I've recently made the move back to freelancing.
THOUGHTS: It is my experience that the quality of the interaction and relationships one has with a client are vital in the course of creating a unique and inspiring result. I enjoy the organic process of working with a client as a team to compose and create a final product that is both original and appropriate. I understand the often demanding process of creating media, in that I have also been in the producer's chair. Revisions or changes are often needed - it is all part of the growth of the concept, as we all know. And in the end, it is the product and client that matter, and I will continually do my best to suit the needs of both.
Feel free to contact me about your upcoming project!
I have been in the industry since 2000.
