Richard Getz is a two-time EMMY Award winning Producer and Director. He is also a veteran sales, marketing and communications professional with experience in the Travel, Internet and Construction industries, as well as television and advertising.
Prior to re-forming Richard Getz Productions in 2010 to develop non-fiction and reality based TV programs, Richard was Vice President of Business Development at Target Logistics, a full-service, global remote life support company and VP of Sales & Marketing of AirDepartment.com, renamed iTravelSolutions.com, an online travel provider to Starwood Preferred Group (SPG) Vacations, Hotels and Tour Operators worldwide.
While living in New York City, Getz joined CNBC in December of 2001 as their Vice President of On-Air Promotions & Marketing. Richard was also an Account Manager at Globix Corporation’s Streaming Media Group as well as a Business Development Manager for the Multimedia Services Team at the New York office of iXL Enterprises. Previously, he was a Senior Account Director at New York’s ACG Communications and the Senior Account Manager on the Digital Equipment Corporation account at Caribiner Communications in Boston.
From 1987 through 1996, Richard was President of Richard Getz Productions, Inc., a company that produced commercials for advertising agencies, promotional spots and campaigns for broadcast & cable and direct response TV campaigns for advertisers.
His production of three ABC Sports' campaigns for Monday Night Football with Hank Williams, Jr. have become industry hallmarks. Each was nominated for a national Sports EMMY Award, which he won twice in 1989 and 1990. The 1989 campaign also received the Broadcast Promotion & Marketing Executives Gold Award and the International Film & Tape Festival of New York Gold Award.
Prior to forming his own company, Richard was a founding partner of The Spotwise Agency in 1983, a company specializing in creating advertising campaigns for clients in the electronic media industry. As Director of Sales & Marketing, he propelled Spotwise's annual sales from a few hundred thousand dollars to over 2.5 million dollars in just four years. His clients included NBC Sports, ABC Sports, ESPN, ABC-TV, PBS-TV, VH-1 and dozens of TV and radio stations nationwide.
He began his television career during college in 1979 as a production assistant for WQTV-TV in Boston and was promoted to Operations Manager overseeing the news, programming and production departments. He also developed, produced and directed many of the station’s original programs. After that, Richard moved on to WLVI-TV, another Boston independent station as a producer and director in the promotion department.
When Richard is not making deals, he heads for the mountains for some 'high alpine extreme skiing.'
