My career in sound began in 2002 as an intern at Sony, working on such films as Spielberg’s “Catch Me If You Can” and Mia Goldmans “The In Laws.” Moving from long form to short form Mike got his feet wet in the commercial business while working at Audio Banks and Ear to Ear studios in Los Angeles. Shortly after, Mike moved on to help convert Eleven Studios in Santa Monica to it’s newest system and worked directly under Jeff Payne until he left to do freelance work in 2004. As a freelancer Mike worked on long form, short form and commercial projects, and was lead mixer on 3 separate TV shows, “Fearless”, “Beyond the Glory” and “Love Is In The Air.” He also worked with ad agencies Goodby Silverstein & partners in SF post dept, Outpost Digital and Crush Editorial. Looking for a full time home, Mike headed back to Eleven Sound where he helped to design the upstairs Studio C. Over the next few years, along with various commercial mixing clients, Mike mixed two indie features as both sound supervisor and lead mixer. Currently Mike is working around town as a freelance mixer and editor, working in various studios on radio commercials, promos, television shows and feature films. When he isn’t in the studio you will find him slow smoking some meats in his backyard and working on his famous Messy Mike’s BBQ sauce.
