About Me

I am currently a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. I’ll be graduating in May with a B.A. in broadcast news. Currently I intern at KSAZ, FOX 10 Phoenix. I assist in just about everything from interviews to promotions and often assist assignment editors at the assignment desk. When reporters are unavailable, I often go out with a videographer and conduct the interviews myself. I also currently produce Cronkite NewsWatch, a live evening newscast. As the producer, I communicate with anchors and reporters, production, and the news director to make sure we have a good show for the day. I create the show rundown, write scripts, and edit video. I also make graphic requests and oversee the design of the graphics. I’m also currently assisting in the creation of a morning show that will run once a week starting March 24th. It is a completely student run morning news show and will feature works from Cronkite students. As the show’s lead producer, I will create the rundown, choose the content and write scripts. I will be leading students who want to co-produce the show and I will also do some on-air anchoring. Our goal is to have the show continue on after this semester and continue to grow and develop. In 2010, I produced and directed a 26 minute documentary for a class. I shot and edited the video, arranged, and conducted all of the interviews, and oversaw music and picture choices. It was a collaborative project with three other Cronkite students. We have submitted the documentary for awards and we are currently in talks with PBS Tucson and Phoenix to have it picked up and aired.

Career goals:
I’m looking to produce or report broadcast content in television or radio or work with a production company to produce other projects. I truly enjoy creating something that I can be proud of and I enjoy having the opportunity to tell a story. I want a career that is fast paced and allows me to work with people as well as one that gives me the opportunity to continue learning and developing my skills.
